Carpathian Startup Fest 2025 zakończony

Najciekawsze, luźno spisane myśli, które najbardziej zapadły mi w pamięć:

Panel dyskusyjny z udziałem Adama Górala i Piotra Nowosielskiego:

— Maciej Zientara

💻 Mac user frustrated with Home/End keys?

Here is the gist that remaps Home and End to work like on Windows/Linux-jumping to the beginning/end of the line, not the whole document!

EN#macos

By default, the microphone key on some Keychron models doesn’t trigger macOS dictation. With Karabiner-Elements, you can remap that key to launch dictation or any other system function.

This setup allows you to start voice dictation with a single key press, improving workflow efficiency.

To make the microphone key on a Keychron keyboard activate dictation in macOS, follow these steps:

  1. Open Karabiner-Elements
  2. Go to Complex Modifications → Add your own rule
  3. Paste this script.

This script is useful if you want to see two full weeks at once in the macOS Calendar app, instead of just the standard 7-day week view. I use it every Monday morning to review what I didn’t finish last week and to plan my tasks for the upcoming days.

Command:

defaults write com.apple.iCal n\ days\ of\ week $dni

Presentation "Storing bitstrings in qubits" at BBdays4 IT

On the 14th of September, I gave a speech at BBdays4 IT, the IT conference for developers. During the presentation I was explaining the principles of how quantum computers work, the differences between bits and qubits, and how quantum algorithms are implemented. After the theoretical introduction, I was showing real examples of how to effectively store bitstrings in qubits. Finally, I gave tips on how to start your quantum adventure in the place you live in.

The full tutorial behind the talk: Compressing bit strings in qubits using superposition effect.

EN#quantum

According to Quantum Mechanic and No-cloning theorem perfect cloning is not possible. The key thing is superposition. Even if we know everything about the parts of the system, we don’t have the full knowledge about the full system. We can simply visualize that with the simple math operation:

(A+B)2=A2+2AB+B2(A + B)^2 = A^2 +2AB +B^2

is not the A2+B2A^2 + B^2. It is not enough to look only at the parts of the system and try to apply the same operation as on the full system.

Doctoral dissertation

The main goal of the doctoral thesis was to examine in detail the thermodynamic properties of the superconducting state induced in selected compounds with the antiperovskite structure, in the framework of the classical Eliashberg equations formalism. The secondary goal was to initiate work on new software, aimed at enabling future calculations based on a generalized Eliashberg equations formalism, omitting the need to determine the phenomenological μ* parameter.

Transformation of Hubbard Hamiltonian into the Matrix and its Diagonalization

In order to perform larger scale physics research in the area of superconductivity, we have developed an application that can transform the Hubbard Hamiltonian into a matrix and diagonalize it to find the selected model’s energy spectrum. For that purpose we have used the Python language and its wide ecosystem. This paper proves that the selected tools are capable of creating scientific applications in a general sense.

After a short introduction into the physics problem and the designed algorithm, the paper presents the computer science problems and their solutions in creating scientific programs, in particular: performance and parallelization issues, storage of input data and results, bottleneck detection, as well as optimization and testing. The most interesting examples of the development cycle are described to give a ready solution for implementing other scientific software.
